About

Donna Jennings Theodossiou

My body of work has been a recent journey of self discovery and healing. After spending a career as a science teacher and school administrator, I retired early to care for my husband who was battling cancer. I found myself widowed shortly thereafter and then covid hit 6 month later. Life went from 100 mph down to a slow crawl. I turned to photographing sunrises and sunsets at the beach to pass the time and ultimately found wonder and inspiration in the light, shadows, and colors of the world around me. In 2020, after finding some art supplies around the house, I started painting, beginning with watercolors then expanding to gouache, acrylics, pastels, and, finally, oils. My work has been inspired by my photography of nature, from the seashore of coastal New England to the White Mountains of New Hampshire, the island life of Key West, and includes landscapes, still-lifes and abstracts. As an emerging artist, the focus of my work is to not focus on any one medium or style, but to explore and experiment. It is a journey and I am making up for lost time....all of those years, never realizing that art would be my passion.

The name “Color in the Fog Studio” came to me after taking a photograph of a foggy morning at Duxbury Harbor with the rising sun breaking through the fog with the most beautiful shades of gold. It was like finding happiness in a time of sadness…finding some “Color” in the Fog. It perfectly described the joy I felt in discovering painting.

I am currently a member of the Pastel Society of New Hampshire, the Seacoast Art Association, Newburyport Art Association, and Kittery Art Association.
